Open-ended Intergovernmental Expert Working Group on Indicators and Terminology Relating to Disaster Risk Reduction: second informal consultations of the Chair

From October 10-11, the above conference, after the first in June, was held in Geneva, Switzerland. The objective of the meeting was to develop indicators and terminology to measure progress on the seven targets incorporated in the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. Prof. Yuichi Ono attended the session as an expert within the Japanese delegation, sharing the results of a feasibility exercise conducted among 17 Member States on the indicators (assessment on whether disaster loss data corresponding to the indicators which have been proposed can actually be collected by the countries), and participated in the negotiations.

The indicators and terminology are to be finalized during the third intergovernmental session, November 14-18.
