Concerning international liaison activities, we have collaborated with institutions around the world that conduct research on disaster risk reduction, international organizations such as the United Nations, and disaster risk reduction related organizations including NGOs, to build a system in which the expertise of IRIDeS can be passed on to various levels. We have concluded Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with other universities on disaster risk reduction, mitigation and reconstruction. Moreover, together with the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), we have launched the Multi-Hazards Program, serving as the regional program hub to the program.
IRIDeS signed a MoU with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and set up the "Global Centre for Disaster Statistics" in April 2015, for the purpose of supporting the development of disaster statistics. We will also contribute to the strengthening of overall risk governance capacities, for example, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of development schemes which consider disaster risks.
